I-jumelage is an international seminar that seeks to create an atmosphere of exchanging experience between African youth. Under the theme : the animation of projects of international solidarity in network via TICs, The NGO VECAM France, led by Fred Sultan organized this seminar in Conakry, the capital of Guinea from May the 22nd till the 27th. From Guinea the cooperation was with the NGO LAF. The members of this Organization were very enthusiastic and spared no effort to make the program successful.
The participants were youth from different African countries: Guinea, Mali, Senegal and Morocco in addition to France. They were all motivated to support their projects to be realized. .
The seminar was held in the national palace and opened by words pronounced by Fred Sultan the president of VECAM in which he explained to the public what is i-jumelage and what are its objectives.
Then, the NGO LAF, represented by its president Etien Tolno gave his speech in which he showed the readiness of the LAF. After that, the ministry of youth gave a welcoming speech. Finally, the representators of the 5 countries gave their impression and introduced their teams and their structures. The Malian team consists of four members, Senegal and Morocco with three members, and Guinea with 22 associations.
The Moroccan participants Mss Amal Chmiti, Mrs Halima Oulami and Mr Abdellah Taibi introduced four interesting projects.
Mss Amal, a French teacher and a member of “Art, Jeunesse sans Frontieres” and a member of the committee Oasis Protection Skoura, introduced a very important ecological issue titled “protect our oasis” in this project; Mss Amal aims to draw the public awareness towards the danger of uprooting the palm trees in the south of Morocco.
Defending women’s rights in Morocco was the interest of Halima Oulami, the presidents of Al Aman association in Marrakech. In brief, her project is to teach women, especially illiterate ones, their rights within their families and how to defend them.
Concerning the third participant, Mr My Abdellah Taibi, English teacher and the president of the association “Art, jeunesse Sans Frontières”, brought the idea of “Education via cinema”. His idea is to create an African filming team that works on making short movies that aims to teach morals and good habits for children as well as grown ups.
The Moroccan participants supported “the book caravan” a social and educational project held in Morocco for a couple of years by the Moroccan social activist Jamila Hassoune the Founder of the annual book caravan. The Moroccan team came to share the experience of Jamila with the African participants.
In the second day and after presenting projects to the public, the participants were divided into teams with homogenized projects and ideas under the following themes: Environment, Education, and Health.
